Currently at CHBC we have some very competitive Moto-X Racers!
Jordan Coles has just moved onto a 250 & is flying with some of the best talent & technique to be seen locally! He is often just as fast as the senior CHBC club riders! He certainly has the ability to be one of NZ's best if he keeps pushing! Jack & Aimee Thomsen are right there too! Jack has been working very hard & has challenged & beaten Jordan on the odd occasion (Jack is still on a 125cc machine so that is very good for him!). Aimee is right up there with some of the best girls in the country & was chosen to represent NZ at the Woodville GP this year (2024). Unfortunately she sustained an injury prior but the potential is certainly there! She is also one to watch for the future. Jacob Strong started riding racing a little later than the above riders but he is making excellent progress in the Junior 125cc class. It has been great for him to chase his mates and learn in the process. Cambell Donnithorne is in the process of progressing from the 85cc class to the 125 class & he is making outstanding progress. He was winning locally on his 85 and the others will need to look out as he has really taken to the bigger & faster 125cc machine! Cambell is a fast learner & I expect progress to be swift for him.
We have a few younger riders also who are just getting into it!
If you know anything about racing dirt bikes you know it takes a lot of fitness & years of skill development to make it happen. Its not the bike its the rider that makes the difference & you have to be able to get back up again as we all crash at some stage!
Mr Welch is still pretending to be a racer & has been the NZ Masters champ in MX & XC for the last 2 years. He is going for the trifecta in 2025!
