UNIFORM RULES

The following list outlines the school’s expectations:

  • Please ensure that all items of uniform are clearly and permanently named.
  • School uniform must be worn correctly at all times, students must be in full uniform from the time they leave home until the time they arrive home.
  • Students must be well-groomed and neat.
  • Student’s hair must be clean and groomed to a style that remains tidy and off the face throughout normal activities of a school day. No extremes of hair fashion or colour is permitted.
  • Male students must be clean shaven.
  • Fingernails and toenails must be natural and not coloured.
  • Tattoos must be covered.
  • Jewellery is not permitted. Earrings – A small Stud can be worn in pierced ears (One in each ear)
  • Piercings are not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, nose, lip, gum, eyebrow and tongue.
  • Canvas, sports, suede, boot styles or fashion shoes are not permitted. Sandals must not have multiple straps. If in doubt about the suitability of footwear,please contact the student office.
  • Any garment worn under uniform items must not be visible e.g. above the uniform neckline, longer than the uniform item sleeves and longer than the hemline of shirts/skirts etc.
  • Covered footwear must be worn in the laboratory and the workshops at all times.
  • Please note Year 13 students are to wear dress uniform during their academic year with the exception that during Term 1 (because of the heat) they may wear full summer uniform but not a combination of both.

GIRLS’ SUMMER UNIFORM (TERMS 1 AND 4)

  • Skirt- Green tartan with two pleats. Length to the knee.
  • White Polo Shirt -Plain White Polo Shirt
  • Footwear- Black or Brown Leather roman sandals or Black leather lace-up school shoes with a low heel or black leather school shoe with single strap and low heel.
  • Socks – White ankle socks with shoes
  • Jersey- Plain royal blue V Neck jersey. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.
  • Polar Fleece – Polar Fleece Available from the school office. School monogram, surname (optional initial) embroidered on the front left side.

Embroidery for the Jersey & Polar Fleece can be arranged through the college.

GIRLS’ WINTER UNIFORM (TERMS 2 AND 3)

  • Skirt- Green tartan with two pleats. Length to the knee.
  • Trousers- Black Trousers. No jeans permitted.
  • White Polo Shirt -Plain White Polo Shirt
  • Long Sleeved White Shirt & Tie – Long sleeved White Shirt with collar worn with a Tie.
  • Tie- Royal Blue with Gold Stripe
  • Footwear- Black leather lace-up school shoes with a low heel or black leather school shoe with single strap and low heel.
  • Socks or Pantihose – White ankle socks with Black leather school shoes or Plain black pantihose.
  • Jersey- Plain royal blue V Neck jersey. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.
  • Polar Fleece – Polar Fleece Available from the school office. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.

BOYS’ SUMMER: (TERMS 1 AND 4)

  • Shorts - Grey drill shorts & Plain Grey Polo Shirt
  • Polo Shirt – Plain Grey polo shirt.
  • Footwear- Black or Brown Leather roman sandals, worn without socks or Black lace up shoes or slip on black shoes, worn with Grey socks with royal blue & gold hoops.
  • Socks – Grey socks with royal blue and gold hoops, worn with black leather school shoes, or school sandals, worn without socks.
  • Jersey – Plain royal blue V Neck jersey. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.
  • Polar Fleece – Polar Fleece Available from the school office. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.

  • Trousers – Black viscose twin pleat trousers, MUST be worn with a long sleeved white shirt and tie. No Jeans permitted.
  • Polo Shirt – Plain Grey polo shirt.
  • Footwear - Black lace up shoes or slip on black shoes, worn with Grey socks with royal blue & gold hoops.
  • Socks – Grey socks with royal blue and gold hoops, worn with black leather school shoes, or school sandals, worn without socks.
  • Jersey – Plain royal blue V Neck jersey. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.
  • Polar Fleece – Polar Fleece Available from the school office. School monogram, surname (Optional Initial) embroidered on the front left side.

TRAVELLING OR REPRESENTING THE COLLEGE

The boys travelling uniform is black trousers, white long sleeved business styled shirt, school tie (royal blue with yellow stripes), black socks, black shoes and a blazer, school jersey, polar fleece or school jacket. The College Tracksuit should be worn if attending a sporting event.

The girls’ travelling uniform is green tartan skirt, white long sleeved shirt, school tie, black pantihose, black shoes and a blazer, school jersey, school polar fleece or school jacket. The College Tracksuit should be worn if attending a sporting event.

We strongly recommend that all students purchase a school tie and a white long sleeved shirt as these will be required for sport and cultural exchanges. Boys should also purchase a pair of long black trousers.

Rugby 1st XV It is a requirement that the boys wear the travel uniform as above.  Blazers are available for hire over the full winter season for $70.00.  Please ensure these are returned at the end of the season dry-cleaned.

BOYS & GIRLS

College Rain Jacket: 

The College lined winter rain jacket is available for $82.80.

Please place your order by the 10th of each month. 

This will be the only rain jacket that may be worn at College. 

Polar Fleece Jacket:

Polar fleeces are available through the Student office for $75.00, including embroidery of the student’s name. (This is arranged by the College.) There are samples at the Student Office for your child to try on for size. Please note that payment must be received before the polar fleece jackets can be sent for embroidery. Payment for the polar fleece can be made via cash, Eftpos, AP or Online banking. For more information please contact the Student Office.    

Jerseys:

Jerseys are available from Story’s Clothing, 91 Ruataniwha Street, Waipukurau. Jersey will be accepted at the office for embroidery of the Crest and student’s name for $20.00. Please print students name clearly on a piece of paper, pin it to the jersey and leave at the Student Office with payment.

Jewellery:

A small stud maybe worn in pierced ears (one in each ear).  Any other jewellery is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, lip, nose, gum, eyebrow, face and tongue.

Scarves:

Only a scarf in school colours can be worn—royal blue and gold alternate bands.  While scarves are not a regulation item, they may be worn outside the classroom in very cold weather (Terms 2 & 3).

Hats:

A College Baseball Cap or bucket hat; Navy blue (With School logo) can be worn in the summer terms (Terms 1 & 4). These are available from the Bursar’s office for (Cap) $25.00 or (bucket hat) $27.00.

A School Beanie; Navy blue (With School Logo) can be worn in the winter terms (Terms 2 & 3). These can be purchased from the Bursar's office for $25.00

Blazers & Ties: 

Blazers are an optional part of the school uniform. Blazers and ties may be hired for the day through the College Office: Blazer – $3.00 Ties – $1.00.

Items must be returned to the College office on first opportunity/school day after use.

Blazers can be purchased through the College office – cost $180.00 approximately.

Uniform Loan Items:                                                                                                                    

On rare occasions there are special circumstances that prevent a student wearing full Central Hawke’s Bay College uniform. On these occasions students should bring a note to the College Office/Deans/Senior Manager that explains the problem. The College will issue loan uniform item(s) wherever possible for the use of the student during the school day or for an agreed period.  If a uniform item is not returned at the agreed period. 

If a loan uniform item is not returned at the agreed time or as soon as possible then an account will be sent for the cost of the missing loan uniform item(s).

PHYSICAL EDUCATION:

BOYS & GIRLS:

  • Shorts- Royal blue/navy blue athletic shorts (Canterbury or similar style).

  • P.E Sports Top- CHBC reversible top with one side house colour and the other general CHBC Colours (Link on homepage) or House-coloured singlet or polo shirt

  • College Tracksuit- Purchased through Paladin (link at the bottom of the page & Homepage)

  • Sports shoes (optional).
