Year 10 Work Exploration begins next Tuesday, December 1. This is an opportunity for all Year 10 students to gain an insight into the world of work and all that it entails.
Most Year 10 students have secured a placement for the three days, some of them will be travelling to Wellington, Napier and Hastings. As with all things, the students who have put in the extra effort and began asking around immediately, have been rewarded with some excellent opportunities to explore the world of work.
Our amazing, supportive community has once again been generous in its support and our Year 10 cohort have been offered several local placements in a wide variety of work placements.
I do encourage the remaining few students, who have not yet committed to this learning experience, to ask around and arrange something. It is not too late, and who knows where it might lead?
In the past, there have been part time jobs and even apprenticeships which have been gained from these three days. On the other hand, some students have been grateful to discover that certain environments are not for them and decided to explore different pathways in their future.
All learning is good learning and work exploration is an ideal way to conclude Year 10 and the focus on CHOICE which has been the basis of our mentoring and assemblies this year.
Do contact the school if you have any questions about this or can offer three days in a suitable workplace environment for one of our Year 10 students.
