Last Wednesday saw eight Central Hawke's Bay College Chess students; Ben Berry, Euan Breen, Ben Cruickshank, Isaac Ellwood, Devlan Hanson, Vann Harley, Keenan Jones and Jehoshua Monegro, play online in the Chess Regional Tournament.

They played against seven other high school teams from Whakatane, Gisborne, and Hawkes Bay.

The College team came 3rd, losing by just 1/2 point to St Johns College with Trident High School taking the honours. The team just missed on qualifying for Nationals by 1/2 point. Certainly a new experience online but nevertheless a rewarding one. Well done boys.
