The Inter House Kapa Haka competition was an awesome display where tauira from all Houses showcased their talent in Te Ao Haka with the evening performance in front of an appreciative full house.
Kōwhai House’s stunning performance earnt them the win, with Tōtara a close second and Rimu third.
Year 9 student Marli Nielsen, from Rimu House placed 1st in Kaitātaki Wahine and Jonah Schaumkel from Kōwhai House placed 1st in Kaitātaki Tāne. These two demonstrated exceptional leadership skills on stage and showed pride in their culture through their performances. Kei runga noa atu koutou!
Overall, it was a successful and memorable event! A ‘big ups’ to all our Kaihaka who stood and performed and a big thank you to supporters who came along and the people behind the scenes who made the day a success.
Thank you to the Judges who gave up their time to support our event, Mahinaarangi Northover, Hogan Hynes, Pauly Sciascia and Te Ariki Nepe Apatu-Borell.
Special thanks to Miss Te Puawaiora Nepe Apatu and Mrs Kath Keir for their awesome support of the tauira throughout the term.
