 Students Excelling


With some senior players unavailable due to other commitments, the school sent eight players to the Hawke's Bay Secondary School's tournament in Hastings on Friday the 9th of May.

In Year 9, in a field of 27 players, over a reduced match of five rounds, representing the College, Boston Lewis placed 18th with a score of 2, Jackson Harrison 21st also on 2, after a tough 1st round draw, Phillip Speers 25th with a score of 1 and Jacob Boyd-Hulley 26th also with a score of 1.

In Year 10, in a field of 25 players, Sagar Singh earned 21st with a score of 1.5.

In Year 11, in a field of 21 players, Markus Rapana came 17th with a score of 2 as he and several other high rated competitors faced tough competition from lower rated, up and comers rising from the field to knock all the top ranked players off the podium.

In the open, in a field of 22 players, Callum McNaught came 20th with a score of 1 after a tough first round draw against national champion and tournament winner, Dion Wilson Hastings Boys HS rated over 2000 who scored 5 of 5. Carter Drake came in 21st with a score of 1, again with another tough 1st round draw, this time against 2nd place winner on 4 of 5, Hamish Milne, Taradale HS, rated over 1600.

Next up, the team's tournament in Term 3.
