Division II Swimming Competition
Well done to Juan Miguel Macalalad, John Dalemar Mananes and Christina McCutcheon-Barrett for their great swimming at the Division II Swimming Competition held in Hamilton last week. To be eligible to attend this event, every swimmer must gain a qualifying time in each event for their age group, so gaining a qualification time is an achievement in itself.
Juan Miguel qualified to swim the 50m breaststroke and placed 12th overall in the 14-year-old boys.
John Dalemar qualified to swim in five events, gaining two personal best times in 100m Individual Medley and 50m Backstroke with his best placing being 7th in the 50m breaststroke for the 15-year-old boys.
Lastly, Christina qualified for three events, gaining personal best times in all three with her best placing being 4th in the 100m Breaststroke for the 13-year-old girls. Christina’s new personal best times have qualified her to swim the 50m and 100m Breaststroke at New Zealand Short Course Championship to be held later this year.
