Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Swimming Championship

A team of five swimmers (Ramona Lively-Masters, Paige Franklin, Abby Boyd, Alex McCutcheon-Barrett and JM Macalalad) attend the HB Secondary Schools Swimming Championship held at the Hastings Aquatic centre on Tuesday August 15th. Well done to all our swimmers for representing the College with pride.

Notable results were:

JM Macalalad placed 1st in the 50m Breaststroke for 13-year-old boys.

Paige Franklin placed 1st in the 50m Breaststroke and 3rd in the 50m Butterfly for 14-15 year-old girls.

Abby Boyd placed 2nd in the 50m Backstroke for 13-year-old girls.

Paige also was the points winner for the 14-15 year-old girls age group.

Congratulations swimmers on your achievements.

New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championship

Paige Franklin competed at the NZ Short Course Swimming Championship which was held at the Hastings Aquatic centre from August 8th to 12th.

She qualified to swim in 8 events this year compared to only 4 in 2022. Her best placing was 4th in the 100m breaststroke for the 15-year-old girls. Her swim in the morning for this event, qualified her to swim in B final in that evening in which she ended up ranked in the top 20 of all competitors of all ages in New Zealand.

Paige also placed in the top 10 for her age group in the 50m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley.  Well done Paige on these great results.
