On Monday, our Year 12 and 13 Business class travelled to Woodford House to complete Challenge Two of the Young Enterprise Scheme ‘The Pitch’.

Our Year 12 group Hākinakina Sports consisting of CEO Libby Burne, Production Director Caydee Whittle, Comms and Marketing Director Nkosana Ncomanzi, CFO Micheal Combs-Calcutt and Sales Director Isaac Ellwood along with the Year 13 group Central Cutz consisting of CEO Von Ian Mendoza and CFO Bayden Auckram presented their ideas to a panel of judges.

The two teams presented exceptionally well, with both receiving high praise from Judges around their business ideas. The next challenge will see the groups promoting their businesses throughout the community.

We want to congratulate Von Ian Mendoza and Nkosana Ncomanzi on being accepted into the 2023 Entrepreneurs in Action (EIA) Programme held in Wellington. This will take place from the 29th of June to the 2nd of July. Only Sixty students from around New Zealand are chosen to take part in EIA, so we are overjoyed to know that two of our very own have been chosen to represent Hawke’s Bay!

We also wish to congratulate Libby Burne on her acceptance into the 2023 Future Leaders Academy. Libby will be one of 40 students from New Zealand and Australia travelling to Samoa in early October. The academy helps develop advanced leadership skills through decision-making, planning, and goal setting while competing in several challenges, along with 20 young people from Samoa.

We are so thrilled to have three students representing our school in these amazing opportunities. It's going to be an awesome year for our Senior Business Class.

If you want to have a look at what our students are creating, you can find both businesses on Instagram @hakinakinasports and @centralcutz, as well as Facebook Hākinakina Sports.
