New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships

 

Lucas Perceval and Paige Franklin recently competed at the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championship held in Auckland from August 23rd to 27th.

 

Lucas swum in nine events over the five days and achieved eight personal best times and gained five top 10 placings in the 15-year-old boys age group. He was 4th place out of the NZ swimmers in the 50m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley. He also made the evening final (top 30 of all male swimmers competing) in his 400m Individual Medley and finished 28th overall. He was 5th place in the 100m Individual Medley and 50m Backstroke and 6th in the 100m Backstroke.

 

Paige swum in four events gaining personal best times in three of them as well as three top 10 placings in the 14- year-old girls age group. She was 5th place out of the NZ swimmers in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke and 7th in the 50m Breaststroke.

 

It was a huge achievement for Lucas and Paige just to qualify to attend this championship which had over 600 swimmers from New Zealand competing as well as some international swimmers, therefore, top 10 age group placings are outstanding results. Well done Lucas and Paige.

 

ECNISS Road Race

 

On Thursday 25th August, Caitlin Kirk competed in the East Coast North Island Secondary Schools Road Race in the Junior Girls category (under 16's).  There were 17 keen competitors and under perfect conditions the girls ran around Lyndhurst Road block in Hastings.  Caitlin came 3rd with an awesome time of 15 mins 45 seconds for the distance of 4km.

 

The previous Saturday she competed in the Hawke's Bay/Gisborne Road Race in Hastings and came 4th in difficult windy conditions.  Well done Caitlin.
