Athletics day this year was a lot cooler than the previous years which was a welcome change. The ground was soft and green which was much more comfortable to run on. We had an amazing team effort by staff and students to set up for the morning and we are lucky to have such a helpful crew willing to get up that extra bit early.
Students had prepared well for the House March On and this set the scene for a super day of competition.
We had some very hard-working students trying hard to achieve their goals and win house points. Two of our boys managed to break previous records. Jake Edwards in the Boys Javelin broke the previous record of 39.1m which was made in 2012. He threw a massive 43.31m. Jake also broke the high jump record jumping 1.75m breaking the previous record of 1.74m.
Bonginkosi Ncomanzi also broke the 100m record in the Senior Boys which was previously 11.2s and he beat it with 11.1s. A huge congratulations to these two boys for such a big effort.
Well done to all our competitors who gave it their best to participate in our first Inter House school event of the year.
Hopefully it has ignited a fire in you to keep trying to win House competitions throughout the year!
