Message from the Principal – 25th August 2022
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa
In my first newsletter this Term, I spoke about the potential need to use measures that ensured we could continue to provide staff to supervise classes. We are aware that in week six this term that we will not have enough relievers to cover for staff who are going to be absent for planned school events and probable staff illness. As such we are informing you of our intention to roster home students during this week to ensure we can supervise those year levels that are present each day. Rostering home is an option used by many other schools to keep them operating through this difficult period. We are sorry for any disruption this may cause, we have been lucky and managed to keep the school open all year up to this point. We anticipate the need to roster home will only be for week six at this stage, details below.
The following year groups will be rostered home over week six from Monday 29th August to Friday 2nd September.
Monday 29th August – Year 9
Tuesday 30th August - Year 10
Wednesday 31st August - Year 11
Thursday 1st September - Year 12
Friday 2nd September - Year 13
Seniors who have work experience or Trades Academy should still attend those events even if they fall on a rostering home day. Senior classes will be asked to study for assessments or to complete class work on their rostered days and Juniors can be given work by their teachers, including catch-up for any CAMs that need completing. If students can’t work from home we ask parents to contact the school so we organise to supervise them at school. We thank you for your support.

School Values: ~ HIRANGA ~ EXCELLENCE ~
‘Kua takoto te manuka’ The leaves of the manuka tree have been laid down.
This is a form of wero that is performed in very formal situations on the Marae. It is when you are challenged and you answer that challenge depending on how pick up the leaves. The wero is to see whether you come in peace or as an enemy. This proverb is used when being challenged, or you have a challenge ahead of you.
