Message from the Principal - 29th October 2020

Kia ora koutou

I hope everyone enjoyed the extra long weekend that comes at this time of the year.  It is a nice breather leading into a very busy two weeks which will see several important events and the ongoing preparation for the NCEA exams.

Last Thursday our Year 10 cohort and ten staff travelled together for the annual Wellington Trip.  This trip had been postponed several times, so thanks to a return to Level 1 and the perseverance of the Humanities Faculty it finally became a reality. An early start to the day may have been something unusual for many, but despite being tired upon their return, they had a great day visiting our capital city. Our two local MP’s, Kieran McAnulty (Wairarapa MP) and Anna Lorck (former student and Tukituki MP), were part of the team that showed our students and staff around the Beehive.  Events such as this are important as not only is this the first time many of our students have been to Wellington, but it opens the doors to many important aspects of our society. In visiting places such as Parliament and the Supreme Court they become more acutely aware that these places exist and how they impact directly on our lives. Thank you to the PTA for your ongoing support of this trip and to the staff for your organisation and commitment to ensure everyone returned safely.

Nga mihi nui – Kind regards

School Values – INTEGRITY

He manako te koura I kore ai”. There are no crayfish as you set your heart on them.  This whakatouki is about not putting all your eggs in one basket.  It therefore reminds us that we can not take anything for granted and have to prepare for disappointment and be prepared to show resilience.

Welcome Mrs Baker

This week we welcomed our new Office Manager and Principal’s PA Mrs Jo Baker.  Mrs Baker joins us after spending 15 years at Waipukurau Primary School Office and she is looking forward to continuing her involvement with the children at the College.

Former Student Success

On election night former student Anna Lorck was selected as the new Member of Parliament for the Tukituki electorate.  Congratulations Anna we are proud to have another MP from our College who is giving back to our community in Parliament.
