- Know the four food groups and nutrients found in each group.
- Draw a food pyramid (using the four food groups)
- Recognise what foods are high in fat, salt and sugar in the food pyramid.
- Have knowledge of salt, sugar and fat in the diet.
- Name the 6 essential nutrients.
- Know why the body requires the 6 essential nutrients including calcium, iron, simple and complex carbohydrates, vitamin C and D.
- Know which vitamins are water soluble and fat soluble.
- Know the NZ Food & Nutrition Guidelines.
- Know the recommended servings for the four food groups.
- Be able to write balanced meal plans.
