       Learning expectations 
                            of students studying Year 10 Food & Nutrition



  • Know the four food groups and be able to place foods in them.
  • Draw a food pyramid (using the four food groups)
  • Have knowledge of salt, sugar and fat in the diet.
  • Name the 6 essential nutrients.
  • Be able to recognise calcium and iron as minerals.
  • Know there are 6 main vitamins – A,D,E,K,B,C
  • Introduced to the NZ Food & Nutrition Guidelines
  • Knowledge of information included on food labels
